I’m Josh Elleschild, a joiner & creative based in South East Cornwall.

My journey here has been began with my earliest memories; taking things apart to see how they work, spending hours upon hours bringing imaginations to life from, Play-dough, Stickle Bricks and then Lego, to guitars, mechanics and then houses.

I always wanted to leave my mark on the world. the vanity of youth saw me chase dreams of rock stardom & professional cycling esteem, but it was in my late twenties when I realised that leaving something behind was actually much easier than glorified fame.

Having spent a lifetime mentally deconstructing feats of engineering to understand their workings and the stories behind them, walking through the Roman Forum, noticing the functionally redundant but aesthetically crucial details left behind by ordinary people, craftsmen, all around me.

Combining practicality with charm and beauty, honouring knowledge, refined and past down through generations - these details, when noticed, inspire curiosity, acknowledgement of passion and care for ones actions. For those who do notice, there is a story left behind for them.

Especially today, things made purely for functionality, for speed of production, for high profit margins; these things will be quickly forgotten, tossed out and replaced with the next trend. Things with thought will be cared for, preserved and admired.

I would much rather make something that means something, then invest in automated machinery that does my work for me. To leave things behind that hint at a story behind them. A blemish in pursuit of perfection, a human trying to honour a craft or an idea, expressing themselves through their workmanship.

My business doesn’t fit the formula of ‘success’, I will never get rich doing things the difficult way. But when I look back and see what I have crafted, the thought devoted to its creation, the curiosity of its future long after when I am gone. This is what is valuable to me..
